Fresh Mint Cafe - Scottsdale
I saw an opening for a new "healthy" restaurant called Fresh Mint Cafe, or something like that, in the shopping center on the NW corner of Scottsdale Rd. and Thunderbird. Does anyone know anything about it?
Thanks.

I ate there with my husband for the second time today at lunch time. We had an appetizer (autumn roll) one item from the lunch specials and the green papaya salad with only water to drink. Our bill was about $23. Very fair, actually cheap in my book, especially considering the high quality of the food. I love that I can order anything on the menu and the fact that they actually make vegetarian dishes, not just "meat-free" dishes. The green papaya salad has "soy beef" that is delicious and could pass for beef. I love this place! The only criticism I have is that the jasmine iced tea was flavorless- didn't even taste like plain iced tea.

Haven't gone yet but I work by it. One warning, its quite expensive. Its in a space that could get lots of lunch crowd, but I wasn't going to spend $15 for lunch. The menu matches what A fine dinner restaurant would have, but if you are going to spend that, do you want to sit in a place that looks like a taco shack? When ever I passed by, its always empty. I think they should either get some lunch type selections with lunch pricing, or move to a real dinner restaurant location. As it stands now, this place will be gone in a few months, if not sooner.

I couldn't disagree with you more. I had lunch here today for the second day in a row. It is absolutely delightful. The lunch menu features specials for $8.00 that include rice and salad. Inside it is immaculate and very clean and both times I've been here there are diners- it's not empty. I'm very glad to have another vegetarian/vegan option; Fresh Mint has awesome food! Today I sampled the Mongolian Beef, Fried Rice, Pad Thai and Autumn Roll. I thought the Mongolian Beef was delicious and the Fried Rice was full of veggies and tofu and was not oily, which is a big plus for me. I think they will be sticking around for a while!

Yes, we had lunch specials when we went. Lots of food for the price (I don't remember how much but the $8 quoted by rxenergie sounds about right). Plenty of food plus leftovers.
And "taco shack" is a gross exaggeration. It's by no means fancy, but it's clean and pretty enough in a spare kind of way. Bright colors, lots of light if I remember correctly.
I really do urge everyone to give them a try. I'd love to see them succeed; they certainly deserve to judging from the food I had there.

Anyone else try this place yet? I'll probably give it a go next week, but just curious if any more thoughts.
Is it entirely veg?

re: crsin
I tried it, tonight. I didn't see any meat on the menu. It might even be vegan. They had tofu, fake chicken, fake beef, even fake fish.
My meal of Lemongrass Curry Japanese Eggplant appeared to be vegan. I loved it. It came with a choice of brown or jasmine rice.
If this is your thing, get out and support this place. It was empty at 6:00pm on this Saturday night.

re: crsin
we dined there on friday night and just came to the board looking for reviews. i was told the menu was entirely vegan save for one appetizer, which was just vegetarian. we also got the kung pao soy chicken and the lemongrass beef with noodles. the kung pao was a chef specialty and i appreciated that it came with portion of plain steamed veggies that also looked pretty when on the plate. we also got the dessert of fried bananas which was so yummy because it came over sweet coconut milk and tapioca with a half strawberry and slice of pineapple garnished with mint. best vegan dessert in town. hands down! i just wish it were closer to central phoenix because i would eat there more often..
