Where's the tomato puree?

ajs228 May 5, 2008 12:20 PM

I'm making my mom's sauce recipie this week and I had the hardest time finding the can of tomato puree in the store that it calls for. They only had the store brand, and I got the last can. It seems like it's been this way for about the past year or two. Has anyone else noticed this?
If I'm not ever able to find it, can anyone suggest an alternative? I was thinking of maybe buying a can of whole tomatoes and pureeing them myself in the blender.

Geez, I hope, like Godiva ice cream, that Tutturosso Tomato Puree isn't gone from supermarket shelves. It's still on their website, but who knows anymore.

I think, though I am not sure, that Tuttorosso is one of the makers for (or is that from) whom tomato puree is the only ingredient listed for several of their canned tomato products.

      Nope I haven't noticed such a thing.

try looking at the ingredients on various brands of crushed tomatoes. It was a shock to find out that many of them list tomato puree as their only ingredient.
