Anyone know where I can pick up some chu-hai or of any restaurants that serve it?

i was absolutely addicted to these during the hot nights this summer in japan. if you can order up a chu-hai with fresh lemon or grapefruit wedges that you juice and add yourself -- you are the winner!

i've had it at taiso, otaisho and go. all on st. marks place.
i love the sochu and oolong, so refreshing, without being sweet.

Nearly any Japanese place with a full liquor license will serve chu-hai drinks. But I have never seen the canned types here in the States.

I think I have actually seen canned ones at M2M on 3rd Ave. They are the fruity ones. But it was a long time and I am not sure if they still carried them.

I will investigate M2M. I usually bring back a couple (Mercian brand grapefruit) from Japan every year purely out of nostalgia. But really, they're easy enough to make- pour some korui shochu in a glass. Pour some juice or tea in the same glass. Stir. Drink...Some places add sour mix or club soda to the fresh squeezed juice ones.... Ahh, summer is chu-hai season...

Was out at Mitsuwa in NJ this past weekend and spotted Takara Can Chu-Hi in bottles. First time I've spotted the bottled/canned variety in the U.S. There were 3 flavors- lemon, grapefruit, and yuzu. Was never particularly fond of this brand's version. It was always the cheapest tasting. Snapped a photo anyway.
