  1. Have you checked Chinatown? They might have enough traffic to warrant it.

    1. Lotus Grill on Macleod and 10th SW opened for breakfast, 7am I think. They've changed hands recently so not sure if they still are.

They werent serving Vietnamese food for breakfast though was my understanding. Just regular "grill" items.. (bacon, eggs, etc...)

I found this place by chance yesterday and tried it. It's not clear if they open at 7, 7:30, or 8am, because I saw a lot of different opening-hours signs. And I think the name might have changed, although you can still see Lotus Grill outside.

Anyways, they happily gave me a very large bowl of pho, but I am not sure if they would serve other items off the regular menu. So yes, this is a winner!

That's awesome. I stand corrected - thanks for the intel. Im going to have to give that a try sometime soon. I love pho for breakfast!

      2. Looks like you just got back from Vietnam, and you already miss all the breakfast scene in the market.

I don't think the North American Vietnamese people open that early for breakfast. Is just the life style here, and yes I do agreed the breakfast selection in Asia are much more better than Calgary.

Is there some other city in Canada where Pho is served at breakfast? I see no reason to malign Calgary for something that's the case in every Vietnamese resto in North America,

        2. I think the closest you'll get to this is to order pho to go the previous night. Any self-respecting vietnamese restaurant will pack up the broth separately. Just be sure to get the meat and veg in the fridge right away.

Next morning, just bring the broth to a boil and pour over everything else.

Not the same, I know. But not bad either. If you do manage to find a restaurant open that early for pho, let us know. I bet it'll become popular fast!

thank you, that is a good idea. as I mentioned above, the Lotus Grill place (or whatever the new name is) opens, I think at 7:30, although the day I got there opened at 8am. I spoke with them and they were keen on having a lot of breakfast business.

Oh, and actually it is on 11th ave and macleod trail north, not 10th.

Yeah I forgot - 10th is where all those transformers are. Sorry.

I'm not surprised they'd let you have pho for breakfast, it's sure a lot easier to make a bowl of pho than eggs over easy with bacon and hashbrowns.
