We are spending a few hours in Monte Carlo prior to boarding our cruise ship in 10 days. Any suggestions for a "quintessential" dinner experience? Costs are not material to our decision since we are already fortified fagainst Euro-shock.

Also, we will be having lunch the next day as well. Again, suggestions?

Le Louis XV is considered one of the best restaurants in the world. There's also Robuchon at the Hotel Metropole. Both have comparatively affordable lunch deals. No places I discovered but both are unforgettable. Menus at 130 (lunch), 190 and 250 at le Louis XV, 70(lunch), 170 at Robuchon.

Thanks for the suggestions. If we decide to go, can our concierge make reservations when we arrive for dinner the same night or should I make them in advance?

You will be there during the runup to the Grand Prix, which includes the Historic Grand Prix. There will also be some overflow from the Cannes Film Festival. The place will be a mess. If your hotel is fancy enough to have a concierge, you could eat there.
