Mother's Day in Silver Spring area?

Any suggestions for a suitable restaurant for a Mother's Day late lunch/early dinner? The subject mother is ancient, won't eat exotic or spicy food, and hates noisy restaurants. Since most restaurants will be crowded that day, it should probably be a place that takes reservations so we don't have a long wait.

A good spot is Ferdinands in Wheaton, not great food; but, decent salad bar, ok prime rib and an average age of diners seems to be about 105. Nothing has changed there in at least 30 years. Perfect place for the elderly

ROFL! My mom is under 100, but I'm sure she'd fit right in.

I'll have to keep Ferdinand's in mind for the future. A family member offered to cook for Mother's Day, so we aren't going out after all.

Good suggestion -- I'd forgotten about Mrs. K's, and it's certainly a good place to take little old ladies -- but I just checked their web site (thanks for the link) and their Mother's Day dinners are $60. I know the other family members would never agree to spend that much!

I wonder if Nova Europa would be a good option? I haven't been there in about two years, but it was good at that time.

Ray's the classics is nice and quite - I love their booths. if your mom likes steak.

Ma isn't a big steak eater -- Ray's is too pricey for the other family members anyway. But you've reminded me that I've got a birthday coming up and should start nagging my husband now about taking me to Ray's.
