Take-Out in Tempe?
I'll be staying near I-10 and Baseline (on S. Priest Dr.) on a Saturday night in a couple of weeks and would love to hole up in my room with some good, fairly healthy take-out...any suggestions? I've searched the board a bit and found Pita Jungle and Lemon Grass Thai...any other good options near where I'll be? (I'm staying away from beef, pork and lamb these days...and trying for only whole grains if possible. I know that might limit my options a bit...)
Thanks in advance...

I have to 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Cafe Lalibela - I get takeout there all the time - it is outstanding. My hubby eats meat (but I don't), but he still likes the Vegetarian Combo best bc it is just so good. If you get the Veg Combo, I suggest you ask them to hold the tekil gomen, and instead get the yekik alicha.

I agree with the Cornish Pasty Co rec -- also around Kyrene & Elliot used to be a YC's Mongolian Grill; that would be excellent take-out, tasty and healthy. You could choose the veggies and protein that you wanted, forgo noodles if you're that much of a stickler.

Another nearby option for great Thai food would be Yupha's Thai Kitchen, which is at Hardy and Elliot. It's definitely my favorite Thai in the area.
If you enjoy sushi, you could hop on the I-10 and swing down to Sushi Ken in Chandler.

I've taken out Lalibela before and it works fine. Other places I've taken out successfully in the downtown Tempe area are Med Fresh Grill, Dragonfly, and the Cornish Pasty Co (the latter have a crust that's probably not whole-grain, but good veggie options).

Cafe Lalibela - superb Ethiopian food on University just East of Priest. I usually eat in, but I got take out a few weeks back and the portions they gave me were huge! Lots of healthy choices - veggies, lentils, etc. I suggest ordering a combination of the dishes.

re: fledflew
I think Lalibela would be strange for take out; however I highly recommend the restaurant if you were to eat there. I believe it is easily the best Ethiopian restaurant in the Valley; I usually make a once a month trip to Tempe to eat there. I'm just wondering how it would all work as take out since I usually get the vegetable combo :S

re: rxenergie
The take out experience at Lalibela is a bit different and I wasn't sure what to expect when I ordered. I only did it because I had to deliver the food to a friend that wasn't mobile. The food is packed up in entree sized styrofoam take out containers. One is packed full of the crepes, and two others packed with a variety of dishes seperated into little piles within the sections of the take out container.
