French fries around Rhinebeck/Red Hook

We are weekenders in the region and I like to take my little toddler out for fries every so often. We know Foster's but where else would people recommend? I'd like to limit the area to Rhinebeck and/or Red Hook but am willing to consider going a bit farther afield if there is something not to be missed.

Del's used to have an indoor room around back as well. Very kid friendly - check it out.

Also Pete's Famous on Market St in the middle of Rhinebeck.

Red Hook has a cheery country diner type place just south of town - next to the Dunkin Donuts, Also a good place to got with kids. Forget the name but a pleasant and casual place.

That placed has changed hands several times. I believe it is now called An Apple a Day diner. I haven't tried it yet. It was formerly known as Sweet Lou's. Yes-I forgot about that little room off the back at Del's.

It is called AN APPLE A DAY DINER! And it's very kid friendly. Plus great fries! Right next to Dunkin Donuts in Red Hook. They have a great menu with lots of variety.
The owners have small kids and are very patient with little ones who don't like to stay in their seats. Also a great big Fish tank for the little guy to look at.

Not a real PC answer but there really is only one place for toddlers and fries. Mikey D's in either Hyde Park or Kingston. Both have indoor playgrounds. They were my salvation during those long winters 20 some years ago.

Del's Dairy Creme in Rhinebeck would fit the bill perfectly! Only caveat is they have only outdoor seating on the porch .

Gigi Trattoria... the herbed fries that come with the steak are phenomenal.

I should have clarified that I'm looking for a casual place that one can drop into with a toddler and just get fries and nothing else. I've been to Gigi's -- and like it in fact -- but don't think of it as a place just to get fries for an infant. In fact, we went once with him and sat outside which was easier but still not ideal for other patrons who had to deal with his moments of melt-down.

The sort of thing I want is like Dairy Creme except that today it was too rainy to be outside eating fries. So what else is like that or Foster's?

I should note that as a possible default we ended up today at Pete's in Rhinebeck which I found a bit too dreary although my toddler son did seem to like their fries. But that's sort of the ball park we're working within.
