Honu Kitchen-surprised reaction
I admit, I had a negative attitude about trying Honu Kitchen since the 1 time I stopped into it's original restaurant for a drink we felt the attitude was very pretensious and overpriced. I figured they changed to the tapas style menu to be able to offer smaller portions for higher prices.
This week a friend of mine selected HOnu Kitchen for us to try for dinner. I didn't object but really didn't expect to like it. To my surprise I LOVED it! We started with drinks...she had a special of the evening martini that had basil and something else in it, with a basil leaf floating on the top. It tasted delicious. I had the coconut martini and found a new addiction. We shared a bowl of the garlic edamame, which was a big, generous portion, as we looked over the menu to plan our eating strategy. It was perfect. We decided to share 6 dishes. I don't eat meat but there are plenty of options. We shared a special of their heirloom salad (great), scallope, almonds & honey (one of our favorite fish dishes). pum, pkin tottellini & goat cheese (rich, addictive, the goat cheese as the sauce, which we really didn't realize and didn't want something in a "cream sauce" but couldn't stop eating), red snapper & mango, mussels & sherry (loved it!), lobster with roasted corn (big, big portion and delish. We over ordered and couldn't finish 2 dishes much to our regret. Everything we had was great and I am definitely going back soon with my spouse.
Service was delightful, with no attitude. Everyone was welcoming. Again, I'll be back soon to try some of the dishes we didn't have...and repeat others I enjoyed so much.
