Restaurant Recommendation in Bloor West

It is our anniversary this weekend and my husband and I wanted to go to a higher end restaurant to celebrate. We need to stay in the Etobicoke/Bloor West area because of babysitter time constraints. Any suggestions would be really helpful.

I really enjoyed Cru. The braised lamb was a huge portion and fantastic. My partner and I shared the chocolate dessert, the one where they serve chocolate four (or five?) ways, as a miniature mousse, cake, etc. and were amazed. They also have a good selection of half bottles.

I like Vibo at Royal York and Bloor.
An italian restaurant with a great wine list.
Eggplant parm is a must-try.

Also Bloom at Windermere and Bloor is nice too. Great service. I'm sure you'll get some freebies if you mention it's your anniversary.

I am truly saddened by the lack of higher quality west end restaurants. In a nutshell, depending how far in Etobicoke you want to travel. As a default, I always end up sending friends to Via Allegro. Food is consistent. Large and you pay for it. Best wine cellar in the city by far. I really like the guys at Cru (Royal York at Bloor) it is certainly the best restaurant in that section of Bloor. Pricey for a neighbourhood place and not so consistent, but fine dining nonetheless. Linen, candlelight, handholding. Decent food and winelist. That's probably my best suggestion close to Bloor West. Pretty slim pickin's for anyone coming westward ho. (get it? get it?) Kaji would be a blockbuster if you are so inclined but not for date night generally.

I like The Grange Restaurant on Bloor West at Jane....good ambiance and service ...very good food and wine list....Miranda
