Clearwater Seafood, Pasadena, (near Norton Simon) brief review, & Ambassador College grounds

My son and I explored the grounds of the old Ambassador College, very nice with fountains, bubbling brooks, carp, shady walkways, benches, etc. Two blocks away in Old Town is the Clearwater Cafe. I had the pan roasted northern halibut w/wild mushroom sauce, very delicious. I chose the roasted garlic mashed potatoes and sauteed vegetables as a side, tasty & nicely presented. Brought some home to my husband who enjoyed it as well. My son ordered from the children's menu, a respectable white clam chowder (which I tried) & sourdough bread, & penne w/ butter & parmesan (didn't try). Total w/2 glasses of Hess Chardonnay ($7 ea) & 20% tip about 45 dollars.
The restaurant is affiliated w/ the downtown Water Grill, plus Ocean Ave. Seafood & i. Cugini in Santa Monica, among others. They have a frequent lunch diner program, buy seven entrees, get the 8th free.
re: Clearwater - feh
My husband & I experienced a mediocre meal there several years ago, so I know what you mean, but after seeing several mentions on this board I decided to give it another try, & this time found it much improved. I only had the one dish (plus kids' menu items). Anyone else have more extensive experience?
