Interesting food?

Hi there, My girlfriend and I are going to be in Philly this weekend. She is much more familiar with the city than I am but I would like to find someplace fun, (small, byob, with interesting food) to take her. Any suggestions?

  1. If you want to impress your girlfriend go to Vetri on on 1312 Spruce...very romantic and the food is excellent...

    1. Vetri is certainly excellent but it is not BYOB, it is very expensive, and it is unlikely that you could get a reservation.

Some good BYOB's in center city are Mercato, Branzino, Matyson, Caffe Casta Diva - others, if you check this Board.
If you have a car and want to stay out of the center you could go to Radicchio, at 4th and Wood, August at 13th and Wharton, or go into South Philly and see if you can get into Tre Scalini, on Passyunk Ave.
Be sure to call for reservations. These places are small and get filled on a Saturday night. Sundays is a little easier, though not all of them are open then.

      1. I went to Ariana on Chestnut St for my graduation dinner and was very impressed with the food there - it's Afghan. I also really like Django for French - country french, not snooty french, with some of the best bread i've ever tasted. Both BYOB, Django's a little on the pricier side.

        1. While not a BYO, snackbar has interesting food at a decent price.

          1. Tinto - Basque tapas/ wine bar. Small and interesting. Good cidres too.
