Hello all,

I ran a quick search and couldn't find any information here.

Do any of you know if there are one-day culinary courses, or boot camps held in Montreal? Such as the ones offered by the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) in NYC and Hyde Park, New York?

The ones offered by the CIA cover many different topics and are reasonable priced.

Thanks

Hiya, a key question is whether they have to be in English, or do you understand French well enough to take a cooking course in French? We'll be able to help you out better once we know that. :-) Thanks!

In my case, it wouldn't matter as I am perfectly bilingual. But I guess it's good to know what's offered in and around the city

Cool, then here are some places to check out:

L'Académie Culinaire
http://www.academieculinaire.com
- general and specialty courses

Bon Appetit Cookbooks
http://www.bonappetitcookbooks.com/classes.php
- short courses usually based on a cookbook

Institut de tourisme et d'hôtellerie du Québec
http://www.ithq.qc.ca/
- professional-level courses

I'll also see if I can find the Gazette's annual list of cooking classes - I only see the 2006 edition right now but I'll dig around some more.

Edit - I still can't find a more recent edition, but this may still be useful:

A good range of courses, mostly specializing in aspects of Italian cooking, is offered by Elena and Stafano Faita and company at Mezza Luna (57 Dante, 514 272-5299), the cooking school arm of Dante Hardware. The best description is found on the ...an endless banquet blog, though googling will turn up plenty of other references. Wildly popular, so you'll need luck and/or patience in order to snag a seat.
