re: JamieK
I for one am still upset at the quick shut down, specifically because we had gift certificates to take chocolate classes (wedding present). She apparently closed just before our wedding, so naturally, so both my husband and I and our guests had no idea that the gift they had just spent money on was going to a useless piece of paper. I contacted the Better Business Bureau and they weren't able to get any information. I will get over it but I feel awful for our friends who gave us a very thoughtful foodie related gift, only to lose all of their money.

re: JamieK
By the way, I would like to recommend Stubbe's Chocolates. http://www.stubbechocolates.com/
We recently attended a chocolate class at Stubbe's as part of a group birthday celebration. Daniel Stubbe is a great guy and is very passionate about what he does. We had a great experience!

The Vosges bars are around at several places in Toronto. For sure I saw them at Summerhill market (high prices) but iknow I've seen them elsewhere a bit cheaper. haven't seen their chocolates/truffles/ice-creams - but wasn't that knocked out by them either (certainly not for the price).

How did I miss this post? That's really too bad, though I do wish her all the best. I hope we'll see more of her (and her wonderful talents) at some point in the future.
As an aside, her store was one of the things I looked forward to every time I came home to Toronto -- except that it was closed for the holidays when I was there in December/January, and closed for more holidays when I was there a couple months ago. Of course, now that I'll be back quite soon, it's closed for good. I haven't had my JS Bonbons fix in about a year!!

Indeed she is...I am finding out the hard way as I registered for one of her classes in June. I tried to contact her via email regarding my class and got no response a few weeks back. And I just went onto her website and it's down. Even though the class was only $60, it would have been the right thing to do and inform us of the business closing and refund our money. But no, she just packed up and ran. How unprofessional!

re: millygirl
If someone's closing a successful and popular business without warning for what are described as family reasons, I think it's a safe bet that there are unpleasant things going on that would have prevented them from continuing to run the business or deal with things in general. We've all had times like that. Given the integrity of the operation in the past, I'm sure that she will deal with outstanding commitments somehow, but probably not immediately. Cut some slack.

Try sending her an email asking for a refund. Look here for her email address: http://who.is/whois-com/ip-address/js...

re: foodyDudey
Thanks for posting that foodyDudey, I didn't have her contact info except for the email address. It might be futile to reach her now since she took the time to shut down her website but not her clients. I understand she closed her business for personal reasons but how difficult was it for her or her shop assistants to send out a mass email and inform us that she will get back to us in the near future to sort things out. Not good for her future business if she does go back into business later on.

I just called the store and the phone message says that the store and school are closed and no longer in business.
