Taste of Wilmington
Did any chowhounds attend the Taste of Wilmington Tues. night, April 29? What were your thoughts, recommendations, etc? Just curious.

We went...it was fun. We noticed that some of the restaurants got blindsided by the sheer number of people and ran out of food before the end. Glad there were a lot of people though. We got there 30 minutes into it and there was not a single place to sit. It was difficult to fumble around with a wine glass and a plate of food with no surface to set either upon. Hats off to Marcs for winning and for having the foresight to give everyone a CUP with noodles and other goodies that was easy to handle. My bumble award would go to Antonios for giving out giant sauce covered meatballs on a slippery plastic plate. Try to cut a meatball the size of a billiard ball with a plastic fork while standing up holding a wine glass and a napkin...break out the stain remover! Better would have been to make 'em bite size and give us three.

I was there with my crew to cheer on Marc from Marc's on Market as he won the Top Chef contest. ::sigh:: Now it'll probably be harder to get a table at my favorite local restaurant! Great efforts from James Bain and Keith Rhodes -- not to mention everyone who showed up to hand out free samples. It was a lot of fun, and I can't wait to do it again next year!
