50th birthday prix fixe

tintinsgirl Apr 30, 2008 12:59 PM

I'm looking for a resto in Toronto (not downtown) where I can host my mom's 50th birthday dinner. We will be 20 ppl. I am hoping for about $25 pp and preferably a prix fixe menu. Ideas?

If not downtown, what direction - east, west, north? What kind of food or cuisine does your mother like? Is parking a consideration? Wide age range or mostly adults?

Preferably north or east. She loves portuguese, spanish, greek and any other mediterranean foods. Does not like Italian very much. Parking is a factor because almost everyone will be driving. Age range, I would say 30+

We just had an out of town guest part for my brother's wedding at Gamboroni's on Yonge North of Lawrence and the meal was great. We were served bruschetta, caesar salad, and a choice of pasta of veal marsala with some tiramisu for dessert.

Lolo just re-opened on Yonge. They were on Mt. Pleasant. I believe that they have a really good (reviewed) prix-fix. I think there are a few Chowhounds who have raved about this place. The new location should hold 20 no problem. I also seem to remember that their P-Fix is around $25.

Do you know if they have parking? I have heard a lot about the place too, unfortunately their Web site isn't up yet so will have to drop by!

Seven Numbers may have what you're looking for. Two locations for your convenience. Mama Rosa cooks at the Eglinton location so that's really the one to go to.

so, you're looking for somewhere north and east of downtown and your mum likes Mediterranean although not Italian. But you're asking about an Eastern European resto in Etobicoke? I'm a little confused.

The challenge is the $25 prix fixe. Oliver and Boncini in the Bayview shopping centre offers good food of Mediterranean persuasion and they have a private room that would fit your crowd, plus lots of parking but I think the prix fixe starts at $38pp

But if you're willing to go the European route and still looking east, how about the Blue Danube? They might be able to do $25 pp.

Bottom line is.. no Italian. Sorry about the confusion
