Make your own is pretty cheap. There are a bunch of recipes on the internet. http://www.recipezaar.com/80675 looks pretty close to what I usually make.

To answer my own question...yes.

They sell a 3-pack for about $9.

If I bought too much (2 x 3-pack), will it freeze?

Also, can I freeze feta (President dry pack, not in saline)?

boursin definitely freezes just fine, my mother used to do it.

I cannot answer for feta but I don't see why not as you can buy those frozen spinakopitas containing feta.

I'm lucky enough to live near http://www.junglejims.com/index.asp

And they were selling cases of boursin a couple years ago for some ridiculous price, like $1 a package. It's been well sealed and in the freezer. I just opened one that had an expiration date in 2005 and the quality was just fine.

emm -- have you ever witnessed jungle jim's animatronic "rock band comprised of General Mills cereal mascots"? -- this according to wiki (linked to jungle jim's site!)

i think those kind of cheeses freeze ok because they are already sort of crumbly in texture. i've frozen alouette and its ok. even cream cheese is ok to freeze IF you are going to blend it into something, or cook with it.

No, can't say that I have! But across the river in Covington there's an old-style, greasy-spoon burger joint called the Anchor Grill that may or may not still have their band of dancing Barbies.

I'm pretty amazed that the boursin seems to have absolutely no degradation of flavor or texture after all this time. Yes, it comes out of the freezer very crumbly, but it warms to a nice spreadability.

$9 for a three pack --- great price!!!! that alone might be worth joining costco.

i love boursin, but i don't think alouette is nearly as good. believe me, alouette goes on sale, and i SO want to love it just as much!
