Hello!

Wondering what people consider to be the restaurants with the best salad selections. I immediately think of Fresh and Fressen. Points given for freshness and creativity. Bonus points if the rest of the menu is just as great.

i totally agree with the Terroni salad lovin' holla.

i also really really like the salad-like stuff at mezzetta and tabule - taboullehs, eggplants, etc, - veggie apps count as salads, right?

i have a soft spot for the Whole foods salad bar, but narry the dollars to make it more than a once-in-a-while stop.

and in a pinch, Pickle Barrel take out salads are alright.

Messis on Harbord has had some great salads in the past though, combining fruit, cheese and vegetables in very creative and tasty ways. However, I haven't been there for over a year but I assume they're still good. I also like the arugala salad with hellum cheese at Tabule, a number of the salads at Caffe Doria, and the roasted red pepper, porabello, and cheese (think it's feta) at Ferraro. I believe the mixed greens at Filippos was pretty good too.

Aroma doesn't have the largest selection of salads but what they do do, they do well! My fav is the Aroma special, I can't get enough of it!

i can't claim that all their salads are fantastic (the one with arugula and mushrooms just seemed boring to me, and i'm a big fan of arugula), but there's a salad at terroni's that i absolutely love. it's called 'farinata di ceci', if my memory serves me correctly. the farinata a wedge of a pan-fried dense pancake-type-thing made of chick pea flour, and it's topped with an arugula salad with red onion, italian tuna and black olives. my boyfriend always eats the olives (and assures me that they're great, for those who like olives), but the combination of flavours in the rest of the salad is just incredible.

also - I'm not sure if they're serving it at the new young thailand location in the junction, but the one downtown used to have a fabulous thai salad that had chicken, shrimp, basil, onion, mixed greens and a truly amazing lime dressing punched up with chilis. fantastic, bright, fresh flavours - i'd happily eat one as a lunch.

Terroni kills it with the salads, Funghi Assoluti???? Hell yeah, and that other joint with the gorgonzola and red peppers with honey, Dope!

I believe the other, um, "joint" that you're referring to is the giuggiolosa salad at Terroni - one of my faves. Agree that all of their salads are really good - they have one in their "specials" rotation - arugula, goat's cheese, strawberries, slivered almonds and honey balsamic dressing - if "dope" is a good thing, it's really dope!

i L-O-V-E the salad with strawberries, It's a toss up between that and the guiggiolosa. One salad that varies there is the Caprese, Buffalo mozzarella is to die for, but sometimes the tomatoes aren't that great.

Going to have to go with Fusaro's on Sapdina, just north of Richmond, they have some of the best ingredients, veggies, cheese, and go over the top with adding pasta salad, or chicken etc...I LOVE THE DRESSING.

Mocha Mocha on the Danforth has some great salads. Everything is very healthy and fresh! I also like the salads at Caffe Doria at Yonge and Summerhill. Again very tasty and fresh.
