UCSD graduation weekend recs?

I'm graduating from UCSD in June, and my family is coming down from friday morning to monday night. We are basing out of Solana Beach, and I was wondering if anyone had recommendations for 1- a delicious place for the celebratory dinner 2- a more reasonable place for the larger family for dinner, and 3- places for lunch and breakfast that are really good and maybe more reasonable? We love food of all kinds, asian, mexican, anything really, and aren't afraid to be adventurous. Not particularly interested in mediocre food with a great view. I would prefer not to have to travel too far, as weekend traffic can be oppressive. Thanks!

    add for lunch:
    Pizza Nova in Solana Beach
Pacifica Breeze Cafe or Americana in Del Mar
    Ki's in Cardiff

breakfast--add Cavaillon for Sunday morning. No traffic going south and east from Solana Beach. It'd also be a good place for the celebratory dinner (besides Market).

If you need baked goods for snacks, go to Elizabethan Desserts in Encinitas. She can also do custom orders.

We live in downtown Del Mar and are always trying to scope out good places to eat. Here are some of our current favorites: 1) celebratory dinner - this has been covered already; I agree that either Market or the other places suggested would be nice. 2) More reasonable places for dinner that we like: Las Olas in Cardiff for Mexican (but they don't take reservations and can get packed early), Brigantine in Del Mar (on Sol. Beach border) for fish tacos and decent burgers, Solana Beach Fish House, Rendezvous in Del Mar plaza for Asian fusion/mostly Chinese, Masuo on 101 in Sol Beach for sushi (nice, fun atmosphere and we like their sushi very much, but if you're willing to drive to Encinitas to Kaito the sushi is world class); 3) Lunch and breakfast: Americana in Del Mar on 101, Poseidon on the beach in Del Mar (for breakfast only), Naked Cafe in Solana Beach just outside of Fletcher Cove (delicious, mostly organic, lots of vegetarian choices), Beach Grass Cafe on 101 in Sol. Beach. I'm sure there are others that I'm forgetting, but those are some of our favorites. CONGRATULATIONS on your graduation and have fun with your friends and family!!

I think I'll make a reservation at market since that dinner's a smaller group. I've been wanting to try it, and I've heard mixed things about blanca. Actually some friends and I want to have a get together for all of our families, and wanted to order in food for 20-25 people. Does Tony's or Fidels do that? are there other good places around that do?

One place I like for Mexican in Solana Beach is Don Chuy. It is not the best Mexican you will ever have but good food and I have seen larger groups (15 people) there.

What size of party are we talking with the smaller family, and larger family? If your smaller family party is greater than eight, then cross out the Market recommendation - unless you are willing to split into smaller groups.

Weekend traffic is generally only oppressive in one area - anything on I-5 southbound. It can get a bit sticky on I-5 northbound (near the fairgrounds), but it really is only a factor if you are returning southbound (during the day). Anything east-west is generally quite easy on the weekends.

I haven't been there yet but I heard very good things about Blanca in Solana Beach.

Great places wanker suggested for you..
Things book up quickly for graduation and I would choose very soon..
Addison at the gorgeous Grand Del Mar might be another option for the big blow-out celebratory dinner too or Cavaillon restaurant in the Del Mar/Ranch area.

Market in Del Mar for your celebratory dinner, and Fidel's or Tony's Jacal in Solana Beach for dinner with the family. Also search the board for Del Mar, Solana Beach and Encinitas for further suggestions.
