Steakhouses vs. Italian - best of the best

I'm looking for your votes for your favorite steakhouse and italian restaurant... and your favorite dishes there! (Looking for an overall vote considering taste and ambiance, however with more emphasis on the food, of course!)

Mamma Maria
Antico Forno

Oak Room
Grill 23
Abe and Louie's
Capitol Grill

  1. Add Prezza for Italian, delete Fiore. Not sure why you're including Locke-Ober and Salts as steakhouses - some might add Flemings, Mortons, Capitol Grill...

Good call, Taralli. I forgot about Mortons - went to one of their locations in New Jersey which was excellent.

    2. Mistral isn't an Italian place, while Taranta is actually a fusion of Italian and Peruvian. Other Boston city limits Italian contenders not listed above would include Trattoria Toscana, Sorellina, and Carlo's Cucina outside of the North End and Giacomo's, Pagliuca's, Daily Catch, Maurizio's, and Marco, among others, in the North End.

I really like Sorellina, especially for a special dinner.

      2. I'd add Vinny's for 'old school' Italian and depending on my mood for a particular 'cut' of steak, I might choose A&L for bone in fillet, Oak Room for Chateau Briand for 2 or CG for Porterhouse.

        1. Thank you, bachslunch and treb! I've decided to take my parents to a steakhouse when they come for a visit. Still going back and forth between the menus of A&L, CG, Oak Room, Grill 23 and Flemings though : )

Grill 23 for the best steak; Oak Room for the best ambience.

          2. Not on your list but my top Italian restaurant is Trattoria Toscana. Great food.
