Cheap Dinner near Tipitina's French Quarter

Four of us are looking to grab dinner before going to a show at Tipitina's on a Thursday night. We're definitely not looking to spend a lot on a meal so probably in the price range of $10 - $15. I've been to Coop's Place and like it though it's a little out of our way as we are staying at a hotel up near canal and Rampart. People have suggested Montel's Bistro and Cafe Maspero but I don't know much about them. Any comments or other suggestions would be a great help.

I think the two most reliable cheap places near Tipitina's FQ are:

Salt and Pepper, with a small Bangladeshi menu. I like the goat masala and chicken tikka, and they have veg options as well. It should go without saying, but don't get the pizza.

Rotolo's for pizza, although a friend of mine swears he can still smell rotting food in there from the storm. I don't detect that.

And I'll add Cubaney, a newish Cuban place that I liked the first and only time I was there. Not enough evidence to call it a reliable favorite yet.

Johnny's closes at 3:00.

Second Salt and pepper. Don't let the looks fool you, it's good and cheap.

I'd agree with Cafe Maespero, and add the Gumbo Shop. If you want to walk to the Esplanade side of the Quarter, you could go to Port O' Call for great burgers, baked potatoes, and drinks.

Cafe Maspero, though a little lacking on atmosphere, is reliable and cheap.

Also consider Johnny's Po Boys on St. Louis, though you might want to check the hours, if this is a typical late-night Jazz Fest week show.
