New kosher supermarket coming to the 5 towns
It was mentioned here in Chowhound that rumor has it that a new kosher supermarket will be coming to the five towns. I believe that it more than a rumor. Rabbi Mordechai Kamenetzky was giving a speech over yom tov and mentioned something along the line " ... if you buy liver from Brachs, he then said, not to show favoritism, it could be Gourmet Glatt, Supersol, or the new kosher supermarket …".
Does anyone have more information about it? When will it open? The location will be on Rockaway Turnpike, so it will be competing mostly with Brachs. A tall order.

The rumor that Supersol is moving to Key Food is absolutely false. First of all, the management of Key Food just renewed their lease for a year. Secondly, the management of Supersol also said it is blatantly false (though it would be a wonderful thing). In an ideal world: Brach's prices, Key Food's location, Gourmet Glatt's beef, Supersol's customer service.

re: berel
A lot of times I find the traffic messy on Rockaway Turnpike especially near the 878 fork. Brachs for me is a quick scoot down W. Broadway. Still its proximity to Brachs makes it its main competitor. For the new location to strive it will have to deal with Brachs - which is great news for us since as I said before Brachs has a lot going for it and the two stores will have to battle it out, with us as the winner. One good thing that is bound to happen is a more aggressive lowering and advertising in Brachs meat department. They were a lot better in the past and I imagine that would be one of the first salvos that the new store will fire against Brachs.

re: berel
I hate to go to Costco! I know that I am saving money when I go there, but I always spend a fortune there. Its a psychological thing. I try to not go there more than once a month, On the other hand, I seem to be always going to Brachs for something. I always get a big shalom aleichem when I go there, they are either very friendly or I am spending way too much money there :)
