One evening meal in Madison, WI?

I'm there for business and I've got one mid-week dinner. Where should I eat? Nothing too fancy, but something that is special in Madison.

Also, I want some cheese, but it doesn't have to be at dinner - suggestion on that appreciated as well. Thanks!

Harvest or L'Etoile are the two you cannot miss if you are only there for one dinner. Restaurant Magnus is my third place. The cheese place mentioned above is Fromagination, and it is spectacular.

Too bad it's mid-week, as the Sunday Farmer's Market is awesome and quite the local cheese selection - especially my favorite, Hook's 12 Year Aged Cheddar. I have them ship it to California on a regular basis! On Capitol Square, there's a somewhat new cheese shop / upscale deli that I'm sure would make up a nice picnic for you. It has a very cute name that I'm spacing on now...

Well, I don't know what part of Madison you're staying in, whether you're driving, etc., but I'd say go to the Old-Fashioned on Capitol Square if you want something special TO Madison.

There are many good restaurants in town, as a search of the board will provide, but the food there is pretty traditional WI fare, so maybe that's the one.
