prix fixe multi-course dinner reco's for a bday?

looking for a nice, 2 hour long type of multiple course prix fixe dinner for a special bday.
i heard TRU's quality went down, and i already went to MOTO which was a great expereience.

what else in Chicago would you hounders recommend?

I recommend all of our very best, most creative, top chef places: Alinea, Everest, Charlie Trotter's, tru (still good), Avenues (new Chef Curtis Duffy, I haven't been there since he took over), NoMI, and Spiaggia. You can get a wonderful meal at any of them.

Have you considered Alinea, Trotters or Schwa? You also might consider Bonsoiree which has 2 sittings with "underground" dinners by email invitation only (easy to get on the email list) on Saturdays,

Most of the discussion in there is about high-end multi-course restaurants.

I had a very nice dinner at Sweets and Savories. It is a small place, but friendly and comfortable.

I also recently went to Mercat and while it wasn't multiple "courses" we had multiple dishes (tapas). I found it to be beautiful, funky and the service was great.

Neither of these were in the $$$$ catagory of TRU or Moto, but around $70 a person.
