Fresh calamari at JJ Garden?

Has anyone had any of the fresh calamari dishes at JJ Garden? They sound good, but I'm afraid of getting a container of rubber bands.

  1. my husband tried the fresh calamari with black bean, and it was nothing special...that's his test dish at any chinese restaurant---best black bean he ever had was at the old Sung Lok Kee on Mott street, the Flushing replant sucks. Also, the black bean at Spicy and Tasty is good, too.

    1. I've been tempted the many times I've dined at JJ Garden but always hesitated. It's rare that I've ever had good Fried Calamari from a restaurant that's not Italian. However, at $4.95, I may try it on a future visit. I hope someone who has had it responds.

        Thanks, Janie.

Not the fried calamari, Mike. I wouldn't order that for takeout. IMO, fried foods need to be eaten right away. They have a bunch of fresh calamari dishes on the menu. I'm assuming they're sauteed.

the fresh calamari is actually pretty good, if a little more tentacly than i'd like :)

JJ is about the only delivery/take out joint i trust for dishes that are slightly off the beaten path, particularly as far as seafood goes.
