What's good at Bombay Cafe in WLA?
Haven't been in about 10 years. Please tell me what's good. Thanks, G
re: Est Nyboer
We eat at both on a fairly frequent basis and I have to say that both are good in their own way. I like the mushroom curry at Bombay as part of their Thali dinner. The bread is better at All India, but that said, it seems fine at Bombay to me. The setting at Bombay is nice, and the check is a bit more, but if you are on a date Bombay will be a good choice. I feel a little guilty for not going to All India everytime and that location is a tough one and I know they can use the business. We have never had any problems with the service at either place, but Bombay when they are busy can be slow due to the size of their kitchen.
I used to love Bombay Cafe back in my UCLA days, back when they were located in the strip mall on Santa Monica. Ever since they moved to the fancier digs on Pico, it has been my experience that the quality of service has went way down (catering too much to the "beautiful people") and that the food isn't quite as good as it once was.
All India Cafe, BTW is located in Bombay's old space. Very good. On the Westside, I also like Akbar on Wilshire (near 26th) in Santa Monica.
