Lalos... what has happened?

went to lalos on Clybourn for lunch today and was very disappointed. (and the place was nearly empty.) This used to be one of my favorite places for mid-priced mexican but my last two experiences have been bad.

additionally, the downstairs bathrooms were dirty. looks like noone really cares anymore.

any know what's up?

The Berwyn location on Harlem is consistently good.

I was there a few weeks ago, and the bottled beer is ice cold ;-)
Seriously though, the steak I had on my tampiquena was ok. For the price though, La Quebrada blows Lalo's away.

Lunch time might not be their prime time. I went there for a birthday dinner last eyar and it was fabulous. LOVED their margaritas!

Had a bad experience there 5 years ago and never been back, This was when we use to go there 2x a week. There are better out there.

I don't think I've ever had a good meal at Lalo's except for the original in the Pilsen hood. The other locations are just so watered down. They are the last on my list.

Lalo's has been more about Margaritas than good food for about 10 yrs now. There are HOSTS of other mid priced Mexican joints that cater to those who enjoy a good meal more than alcohol, refried beans, and ground beef tacos.

We had some great Mexican last week just east of Harlem & Irving, I think it's called Sabor Ixtapa on Forest Preserve Drive by Quiznos.
