Tierra Columbiana Recommendations?

We are headed here at long last. Are there any menu items that are not-to-be-missed or better-avoided?

  1. Quick note...The correct spelling is Colombiana.

I have enjoyed just about everything I've ever had there but I usually order something with pork like the masas de cerdo or the montuno lechon. Be prepared if you are not a big eater. There will be a lot of food on your plate.

And one more thing...When you order, you need to specify how you like your plantains if they come with your meal. You can also ask for red beans or black beans with most meals also (both are very good).

If you are not familiar, tostones are fried green plantains and they have the texture of something like a french fry. Maduros are fried yellow/black plantains and since they are riper, they will caramelize and have a sweeter taste and softer texture than the maduros.

Since you said "we" I would just have someone order maduros and someone else order tostones so you can taste both.

Thanks! I'm really looking forward to this. There will be four of us, and I'm sure we'll get a variety of things and share. I am quite familiar with the difference between tostones and maduros. I like both, but tend to prefer tostones.

A friend said he thought the Columbian menu was better than the Cuban, but I love Cuban food. Any opinions?

not sure if I'm too late....but last time I was there I ordered the shrimp in garlic sauce & it was great! I've never been disappointed there. I like both menus- just depends what dish I'm in the mood for when ordering. Enjoy!
