Has anyone eaten at Vidalias in Fort Worth?
We are going to Ft. Worth for the weekend and are staying at The Worthington Renaissance and we were wondering about their restaurant Vidalias.
We had a couple of wonderful meals there. We ate dinner there on a Friday night about 8:00 pm and we were surprised that there were only about 4 tables of diners. The food is southwest style. We split an appetizer of fried green tomatoes and also split the wedge salad. The fried green tomato appetizer was "stacked" -fried green tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, and roasted peppers. It was very good and I'd order it again. The wedge had an avocado dressing which really didn't work so I'd order a different salad ( our waiter split the salad before bringing it to us). We both ordered short ribs in a wonderful reduction sauce and it came with cheese grits and roasted winter root vegetables. This dish was wonderful and the portions quite large. Our package included Chamagne and chocolate covered strawberries in our room, so we passed on dessert. All in all, we had a great meal and would definitely eat there again when we get to Fort Worth.
We were staying at The Worthington and our package included breakfast. Saturday we had the buffet and it was good-a typical Marriott buffet. Sunday there was a special Sunday buffet that started at 10:00 am and they also had the regular breakfast buffet available. If you chose the special buffet you could have what was on the regular breakfast buffet plus the special buffet ( set up in a separate room). The regular buffet was in our package, but they let us apply the $28.00 towards the special buffet. There were cheeses, salads, lox. bagels,sushi, leg of lamb, roast beef, plus a chicken with locally grown mushrooms, a fish dish, Sunday mashed potatoes, and an assortment of wonderful desserts. The special buffet included champagne . I asked for Mint Jelly for the lamb and the chef and several servers went on a search for some and brought it to me. There were HUGE shrimp on the special buffet and we had those first. My husband asked for an extra napkin since we had to peel the shrimp and not only did we get extra napkins, we were brought finger bowls with lemon slices. As I mentioned, the service each time we ate in the restaurant was terriffic.
