BBQ Flavoured Roasted Green Peas

maplesugar Apr 25, 2008 02:14 PM

The thread about Chickpeas got me wondering if there were other peas and whatnot that could be roasted like nuts. Well, I found BBQ roasted green peas at the Farmer's Market today and they were deeelicious. I imagine since the ingredients list green peas, oil, sugar, salt and spices that they're lower in fat and calories than your average potato chip.

I'd love to duplicate it and not pay $3/bag for these addictive little things. Does anyone have a recipe?

TIA (:

You might try doing a Google search for "wasabi roasted green peas" recipes.

I was wondering about that- to the OP, was the coating more of a dry powder than the hard shell in many wasabi green peas? What did they look like?

They were covered in a dry powder, similar to bbq potato chips.I think I'll have to wait for when the peas are in at the farmer's market (late June I think) I'll have to experiment. :)
