I'm going to Weird Fish tonight with a few friends. I havent really heard much about this place. Any menu items that stand out? Anything to avoid? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

If you're not sure what to get, get the "suspicious fish dish". I assume it's different
most days and they don't tell you what it is.

Fish and chips are good though somewhat overdone (the fish part) one of the two
times I got it and the chips were made from unpeeled potatoes which I don't like
      much.

Important! Important! Important! "Seitan" is not a type of fish. It is a sort of tofu
made out of wheat. I mention this because there are a couple of places on the menu
where it pops up in a context which normally would include fish and you may
not want to be as surprised by it as was my friend.

Seitan is made from wheat gluten. It is not tofu.Tempeh and tofu are made from soy.

I'm not sure what part of "it is a sort of tofu made out of wheat" indicates that I believe it is not made out of wheat but I apologise for the confusion.

Hi Chuckles- I was just pointing out that seitan is not tofu; some people have an aversion to soy and saying that it's "a sort of tofu made out of wheat" may sound to some like seitan is tofu, and it's not. Thanks!

        Hi mchan02,

Weird Fish is a fun place to go; just be prepared for a long wait to get in, as it's only got a few tables! I've been to WF several times, and I've always enjoyed myself. Being vegetarian, I've tried the buffalo girls, seitan fish and chips, tempeh fish and chips, tacos, soup, fried pickles, and edamame salad. Everything was great and tasty, but the buffalo girls were my favorite (buffalo seitan "wings"). One of my friends from the last visit didn't like the chowder (with clams?)- she said it didn't have enough flavor, and she ended up just setting it aside.
