Sorry for the late reply - just saw your post.
We live in Perth and are not fans of Frasers or the big hotel restaurants suggested by the other poster.
Jackson's in Highgate / Mt Lawley is fabulous, but it is pricey (but then again so are the other ones mentioned). Another great option (again, pricey) is The Loose Box in the hills, but we haven't been there for several years: however, we have been there a number of times for special occasions and each time it was truly remarkable.
Both Neil Jackson and Alain Fabregues are absolute masters.

The Loose Box also has lovely cottages on the grounds if you want to stay the night rather than driving or taxi-ing back to the city after a big meal and some wine.
Are you after a top quality experience like either of those, or just someplace nice to eat? And by "Perth", do you mean CBD or the Perth area?

Not too late at all! I don't leave for a few more weeks. I am staying in CBD, attending a conference at the Convention Exhibition Centre. Don't need top quality, just somewhere good to have a couple dinners and perhaps some lunches, all midweek.

Can you tell me more about The Prophet, To To and Good One? Are they anywhere near the convention center? I'm fine if not. Don't need super fancy, just good food and atmosphere.

Hi they are a ten ninute $15 dollar cab fare away. The Prophet homestyle Lebanese, mixed platter good for indecisiveness vege or meat. Love the beans and falaffe The omlette with fresh curd is beautiful byo and cash only. Toto again byo Vietnamese all dishes a real step up - love the steamed chilli chicken, the whole deep fried fish, the beef cube (result the antithesis of its mundane title. Senoji Tokyo bar food chicken skin, grilled tongue, larger plates available too. Licensed with some good Japanese beers, sake and sochu.

I'd second Pronto - had some of the best Italian in Perth there. Especially loved their arancini/suppli. Don't miss this restaurant!

I second John and Lisa's suggestions re Jackson's and Loose Box. Let us know how you went!

The best restaurant in your area is balthazar, very close to the convention centre. It is upmarket though. Another good one close by is the CBD restaurant in the Rydges Hotel. I have also eaten at gusti a few times and it was also very good, though not as close. If you go to Leederville, try Duende, great for a glass of wine, tapas of a full meal. Enjoy!

I had to respond to this. I agree with john & lisa - I too am NOT a fan of Frasers. The food is average. The service is abysmal. (ETA: their sister restaurant Bluewater in Applecross is great though).
My favourite restaurant in Perth is Jackson's. In the Perth Hills, Darlington Estate is also excellent. I have heard the Loose Box is very good, but haven't been (yet). Must (in Mount Lawley, near Jacksons) is also very good.
I thought Balthazar was a bit average - tries a bit too hard, and the food doesn't quite make the grade.
Star Anise in Shenton Park is very good (but not as good as Jackson's). For a nice lunch, try the Swan Brewery (not top class food, but still good, reasonable value for the price, and a lovely setting a view). If you are in the city through the week, the pasta at Bar One is good for a casual lunch.
