San Fernando Valley - Lobster?

BasilKitty Apr 25, 2008 09:58 AM

Taking a GF out for her birthday dinner next week (Tuesday ... yawn) and of course she has requested Lobster. We both live in the Valley and want to stay local so we can enjoy cocktails as well. Where does one find a good lobster dinner? I live in Studio City and she is close to Tarzana. Thank you my fellow Chowhounders and Happy Friday to us all! MEOW!

Lobster? Well, frankly, you're better off over the hill at Palms or The Lobster.

Delmonico's, is OK, on Ventura, and definitely has lobster.

. Nice enough. You could try an old steak house. I like Valley Inn for chintzy ness, but you would be the youngest people there, probaby. not a birthday place. Morton's?

King's Fish house isn't in the Valley-Calabasas I believe, but it might do.

Calabasas is most certainly in the Valley.

Try A&W Seafood in Reseda just past Nordhoff. Great Chinese lobster when prepared in their special house recipe

MMM...Lobster...I lived in the valley for twenty years n i've had my share of Lobster...for good drinks, a nice atmosphere, some yummy lobster and a fun time i recommend Benihana. They have a double lobster tail meal, filet mignon n lobster or you can mix it up.
The best part is that they cook all of your food right in front of you. You should make reservations, although on a Tues maybe not. you could though just in case...

i love it there...they will sing to you with tamberines you can also get her a ceramic togo cup for memories n they ll take your polaroid pic for her b day when requested.

There is a Benihana on Ventura Blvd... not too far from that lobster place the other chow member wrote about.I would imagine a place named lobster smellin really fishy n funky in there ....i still have been tellin myself i would try it out one day.

Good Luck n give her a Happy Birthday....

ps..try the blue somethin drink...by the end of the drink her cheeks wont be blue but rosy pink!!!

If you don't work for Benihana - you definitely have mental issues. You sound like a straight up commercial.

I would go to Mortons, Ruth Chris, Delmonicos or Le Petite Restaurant........I sometimes fly in lobsters from Maine ............they are all good restaurants and I have eaten at them.

Ruth's Chris is the first that comes to mind for a nice lobster dinner. I have always had good meals at Ruth's Chris, though I know some hounds don't like it. For me it's the best valley option, if you're not wanting to come over the hill for The Palm. I wouldn't call it romantic per se, but it fits the standard bill.

I know, as others have suggested Delmonico's has it, but I've had qualms with their service over the years. My ex loved their creamless creamy vegetable soup they offer(ed) as an appetizer. I recall years ago having their blackened prawns, and those being good as well. I know their roasted corn is popular, as is the garlic spinach.
