My buddy and I are taking a roadtrip to Edenton, NC. Our friend is getting married and we are driving from Philly on I-95 to 1 S in Delaware and then we pickup 13 S through Maryland and then 17 once we are past Norfolk. I was wondering if anybody had any ideas on some cool places to stop. We are both very adventurous eaters and my buddy has already mentioned that he would love to get some crabs in Maryland. We are very much into hole in the wall type places as well as finer establishments. I really appreciate any help you might have. Thanks again.

Crisfield Md is a pretty cool place to visit - local legend has it the the city is built in oyster shells. Anyway it's right on the Chesapeake bay near the Virginia border. There's a good seafood restaurant right beside the pier - Captain's Galley I believe.

I'd also recommend a stop in Chincoteage and Assateague Island to see the wild horses and grab a bowl of chowder.

One more suggestion - Lazy Susan's Hot Fat Crabs on Rt 1 south of Lewes. Apparently it's moved to a new location. Cuisene: picnic tables covered with newspaper and a hammer for opening crabs. Messy but good and a lot of fun.

If the timing works out better that you eat closer to the CBBT then Stingrays in the Exxon just a few miles before the CBBT has good seafood. I don't think they have hardshell crabs though.
