Does anybody know where this place is supposed to be? A friend used to go to it when it was in New York and loved it -- apparently Tobey did, too, and one day moved the owners to LA to open there. I can't find word of it, though. Anybody know?

Didn't know about Tobey Maguire's role in Joe's Pizza opening in Santa Monica, but the website mentions him a lot. Joe's was used in Spiderman 2 in the opening pizza delivery scene.

Yeah, Joe's in NYC is great but it's not the one. The original was Picasso Cafe on 28th btwn park and madison and closed about 4 years ago.

This blurb from an LA magazine at the time: "Tobey Maguire is so fond of the Picasso Café, in New York, best known for its thin-crust pizzas, that he's bringing chef-owner Michele Colonna and his family out to L.A. and financing the opening of a new place on Melrose. Production designer Rusty Smith (Meet the Parents) will do the interiors."

Didn't there used to be a small chain of Picasso pizzerias in LA? I think there was one near 3rd and La Cienega and another in Studio City.

This was a *long* time ago -- we're talking early 1980s, I think Tobey M. was probably in grade school -- the pizzas were thin-crust, with some pretty good toppings like andouille and wild mushrooms, and they delivered.

Or am I pizza-hallucinating again (it happens a lot)?
