Rare Bar is a rare treat when it comes to burgers. You can't do better than this - really. It's on a corner at 303 Lexington in the Shelburne Hotel. Cool, casual place, too. The burgers are perfect with great rolls, awesome fries and onion rings, plus special cheeses from Murray's Cheese Shop (featured cheeses on the cheeseburgers, depending on the day), aside from all the regular choices. If you go there at lunch, 2/3 of the people will be eating the burgers. You can't do any better than Rare Bar!

I disagree. I dont think the burgers are anything special there. For a big burger, I dont think you can beat Michael Jordan's steakhouse in Grand Central. There are also a few goodburgers near GC which have good Shake Shack style burgers.

I agree with niia whole heartedly on Rare. I went recently after the car show and loved it. The t-bone burger, fry basket, and onion rings were amazing. And the best thing of all- They actually WILL cook your burger RARE! Something many places have an impossible time doing.

The Blarney Stone on 3rd ave btwn 44th and 45th has excellent bacon cheeseburgers, great bun, lots of bacon, and even blue cheese if you want. They throw a fresh (not frozen) half pound patty right it on the grill (not griddle) right in front of you when you order it. Ask them not to press on it while its cooking and this juicy $5 burger will stack up to any in the area. Real onion rings too.
