Bake me a cake?

I'm looking for a Midtown bakery that will bake a cake for my fathers 80th birthday party. His favorite cake is Strawberry Shortcake; using an angel food cake in a tube pan. A fresh strawberry sauce, half-cut strawberries and a creamy whip cream would complement the Shortcake. I'm flying in from out of town and do have the facilities to make. Thanks.

Wow, that's a request. I think your best best is to do a search, online, find bakeries by distance from where you want to pick up the cake, and call. Tedious, but that's probably your best shot.

However, other suggestions would include, two out of midtown: http://www.makemycake2.com/

Both seem to be willing, to some degree, to bake a cake to order.

    Good luck.

I recently tasted a Strawberry Shortcake from Blackhound Bakery. It was delicious!!! You can check out their cakes on their website at www.blackhound.com.

Veneiro's Bakery at 342 East 11th Street (between 1st & 2nd) phone 212-674-7070 makes the best (imho) strawberry shortcake in New York. They use an Italian sponge cake base. That is 1st cousin to angel food. I've never heard of anyone not loving that cake!
