Roma for two days

We are ex-pats who live in Paris and we'll be in Rome for two days. We are traveling with our 2 1/2 year old son who is pretty good in restaurants. We'd love some low-mid budget lunch and dinner suggestions. Gelati and pizza will be a big part of our trip I'm sure.
Thanks for any help.

My favorite pizzaria is not in center city, but worth the trip. Pizzaria Remo is in the center of Testaccio. Take the Metro to Piramide, walk west on via Marmoratta a few blocks and turn left at Volpetti (the great cheese and salumi store). Ask anyone for directions (you are a block or so away). Its a local institution. Great pizza and a happy crowd in the evening.

A couple of ideas of the top of my head. Pizza (evenings only) is good at Alle Carrette (at bottom of via cavour just before junction with via dei fori imperiali down little dead end by a bar/retaurant called Massenzio; alternative entrance at the back is on via madonna dei monti). In summer there are tables outside. Pizza and beer or house wine, no frills but good and cheap with usually decent service. Also worth a visit if you're staying on the san lorenzo side of termini is da Marcello on piazza dei campani. It's now run by Marcello's son Isidoro whose mother still cooks there and is a solid and noisy Roman trattoria with a surprisingly decent wine list. Dinner can be easily had for 25 euros.
