San Diego Hound Needs Houston Recs
Hello All,
I'll be in the Spring area of Houston at the end of May and was hoping you could help me. I'm looking for true Texan chow, which to my mind includes Tex-Mex, BBQ, and soul food. Last time I was in the area there was a pub which had crawdad night; I didn't get a chance to participate, but I'm going to try this time around. Please no Asian, French, Mediterranean, etc. -- I can get all of that here in San Diego. Show me what Texas has to offer. Cheers!

I used to like Wunsche Bros. in Old Town Spring for chicken fried steak and chocolate whiskey cake, but I haven't been in several years and haven't seen any good reviews of it lately.
Mel's Country Cafe is a diner in Tomball that is reputed to serve one of the finest chicken fried steaks on earth.

If you get to downtown Houston, I like Thelma's BBQ, and Goode Company BBq is good too.
Cheers
