Best Bets at Punjabi Market (Vancouver)

Hi I'll be Visiting Vancouver soon, and I'm just wondering if there are any good regional Indian places in this area, or in central Van. (I'm hoping for a Goan resto, but other suggestions are more than welcome.) Other South Asian places of interest would appeal to me as well.

Thanks.

None of the restaurants around 49 & Main are worth eating the time IMO it's the same old mass produced Punjabi you can find anywhere.

There is a vegetarian place @ 57th & Main not much to look at but the food is decent.

Saravana Bhavan has opened 955 W. Broadway and is pullin' em in-a worthwile stop.

Akbar's Own is another Broadway favourite that I love.

Seconding Sam's recommendations. Let me add the House of Dosa on 391 Kingsway for South Indian Dosas.

The Punjabi Market area has more to do with shopping than eating, IMO.

Thirding SS reccos and adding one other thought: if you're passing by at lunch Maurya has a heckuva buffet lunch deal.
