Venice Restaurant Recommendation Needed

We are going to be docked in Venice on our last night on our Med. cruise in May. We would like to have dinner in Venice for our last dinner and would like a recommendation.

We are going to be going on a gondola ride which drops us off at St. Marks Square around 8:45 pm. I was thinking of a 9 pm reservation somewhere not too far from St. Marks Square. I know Venice is pricey, but I would like somewhere that is not crazy expensive... not more than about $150 for two. Also, I am looking for a restaurant which serves typical Venetian fare....great Risotto and fresh seafood. Last time we were in Venice, about 10 years ago we had a wonderful meal at Da Fiore...back then the dollar was much stronger and the meal was not terribly expensive.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  1. I would recommend Cantinone Storico across the Accademia bridge, on Fondamente Bragadin facing the Rio San Vio. Good food and service - and I think it might still fall within your price range. With the value of the dollar today, it's hard to tell!

    1. Alla Madonna is in San Polo, just across the Rialto Bridge from San Marco, a 5 or 10 minute walk. The food is simple, extremely fresh, and very good. It's a lively, bustling trattoria popular with both locals and tourists. Easily fits your price range. I'm not sure they take reservations, but it is a fairly large place and I had no problem getting in on a weekend.
