Kam Bowl New Location?
Just curious to find out if anyone knows if the old Kam Bowl (Kapiolani Drive In) Coffee Shop had re-opened at some other location? I've heard they were searching for an alternate place ever since the closing of the bowling alley a while back. I really miss their famous oxtail soup.

Yes, Kapiolani Coffee Shop is located in City Square. Same owners as Asahi Grill, so oxtail soup recipe is supposed to be the same (we've never tried it as we always go to Waimalu or City Square locations). City Square also has other good cheap eats to explore (e.g., Utage for good Okinawan food, Sugoi for ono bento).

There's also a restaurant on Ward Ave that serves the Kam Bowl ox tail soup. I can't remember what it's called. (Asahi Grill maybe?) It's a stand alone restaurant on the left side as you drive makai. It's just past the new condo on the corner of Ward & Kapiolani, but before Queen street.
curiousgeo is right about City Square. I also don't know what it's called.

I'm sure you know this already, but you can still get the oxtail soup at the Kapiolani Coffee shop in the Waimalu Shopping Center up Pearl City Way. BTW, not a bad stop for cheap eats if you're in the area with Chun Wah Kam, Shiro's Saimin Haven, the Peanut Store, Jackie's Puerto Rican and all the rest of those places. Not all great, but cheap and a great concentration of stops in one strip mall.

I've heard it's at the City Square in Kapalama, where the old Gems used to be back in the day. I haven't been there in a while so haven't seen it myself, it might be best to call ahead just to be sure that's where they are located. It should be near Young's Fish Market. By the way Young's has some tables for dining in now if you are in the mood for some good hawaiian food. You may remember Young's from Liliha Street, just below Kuakini where it was walk in and take out only.
