Thai in Wheaton

Mister Big Apr 23, 2008 05:49 AM

Finally got to Nava Thai last night. As soon as I walked in, I recognized the waitress and the chef from Dusit. I had the seafood in chili sauce; my friend had chicken lard na and pork kaprow. All were top-notch.

With Ruan Thai, Nava Thai, and Dusit Thai (highly under-rated on Chowhound) within a two block area, Wheaton is THE destination for excellent Thai dining.

Thanks for the review--I've been meaning to check it out. Wheaton is fabulous!

      Except for the traffic!

By any chance, has anyone eaten recently at El Pulgarcito. Used to be a fave of mine. The past two times I've gone to Wheaton I've gone explicitly for Ruan Thai and Hollywood East. I'm gearing up to make the trek some weekend soon for EP, but wondered if anyone had recent intel on it.

That sounds about right! I'm definitely heading for Ruan Thai next -- any suggestions about what to order? I like just about everything....

Based on a chowhound's suggestion, I tried their "fried watercress", which I think is a semi-permanent special, and it's fantastic. It's much more than a tempura-type watercress, as it comes with shrimp & squid, I believe. Another semi-permanent special which is wonderful is their chicken yellow curry.

Yum!! And I believe I heard the crispy fish was also a great choice there (?)
