Ok so I've heard a rumors of a new Pie place opening up in Hampden by the Dangerously Delcious people that will focus on savory pies. Is there any truth to this?

Also live there, also haven't heard anything.

Could go in at Mill Valley, maybe? This would be REALLY exciting news, if true.

True. (But I don't know about the savory details.) I hope the crusts will improve. Chestnut Avenue near the tearoom.

Oy. That's dangerously close, no pun intended. Have you heard any target opening dates or anything?

Awesome! I'm so glad to hear it is not just a rumor. Always looking for a good brunch and new dinner options- I can't wait.
as for crust I'm a fan in all its lardy goodness (I'm assuming it's lard)

              1. re: youami

I am a longtime fan of Hank Williams and look forward to hearing what the "Pie Man" will be presenting. The "Pie Man" is definitely after my heart.

I will be there with my Sawzall :)

Ditto on the crusts improving thing. I've tried DDP pie three times. 3 different kinds and 3 different occasions. 2 out of the 3 times I was sadly, sadly let down by the crust. Hard, thin and flavorless. I will say that the one time it was good, it was pretty darn good. Peach pie.

agree on the crusts, and for that kinda ..dough, the pies oughta be better

                1. re: chowsearch

Was pleasantly surprised by the savory pies...especially the steak and mushroom. So tasty! I think Rodney's crust works better with the savory items than the sweet ones. Also had the pork BBQ and sausage quiche which were good but didn't come close to the steak. Sitting on the porch enjoying a nice day with some pie...you can't beat that! 2. On a related topic, does anyone know if Savory Pie has closed? The phone number's been disconnected...

Pretty sure they closed at the end of June. Grano, the pasta bar on the Avenue is moving into that spot.
