Looking for a decent diner Ossining...
I just moved to Ossining and at least three times a week I like to have a diner where I can not only eat awesome cuisine but have the time to mellow out and gather my thoughts (into my laptop and Blackberry) without feeling rushed
. Can anyone make any suggestions?
If you don't mind a 10-min ride south, give Bellas Restaurant in Tarrytown a try. It is in a strip center on Broadway, just south of Main Street intersection. It is very small, and quiet for dinner (til 9pm weeknights), and you can sit and own a booth all night. The owner cooks, along with two others; they take pride in doing a good job with a traditional diner menu. You'd be surprised at what they'll do with certain dishes. Two homemade soups every day, very good. IF you want something not on the menu, just ask -- they'll make it.
As clarification, do you mean diner, or dinner? Awesome cuisine and diner may not necessarily be found in the same sentence in Ossining. Sigh...
That said, if you are indeed looking for a diner that you can hang in for awhile and food is reasonably good, I'd do Landmark Diner (across from Arcadian Shopping Center). Of the two diners in town that I know of, Landmark's better (the other, nearer to my house - north on Route 9 closer to Croton - reopened recently and we've eaten there 2x, don't think it's particularly good but two meals may not tell the whole story - I just don't like the tin ceiling and the flashing light effect created by the fans on the ceiling. I think that's the Highland Diner?).
Happy eating... wherever you land.
