Queens alfresco dining

This is my favorite time of year in the city, when the trees are in full bloom and the cafes spill out onto the sidewalks. I long to sip wine (or a cold margarita) while dining outside somewhere other than my front stoop, but my Queens neighborhood is lacking in alfresco options. There must be some hidden gems in our fair borough. Sripraphai's back garden is an oasis, and even El Coyote's somewhat dismal back "patio" can do on the right kind of sunny day--but where else should I be seeking a little bit of Paris (or California) in Queens?

  1. Bohemian Hall in Astoria.

    1. Theater cafe next to cinemart movie theater on metropolitan and austin ale house on metro and lefferts spring to mind. Oh, and cabana in forest hills and tournesol in lic both have some outdoor seating (and I like its sangria).

      1. Cavo in Astoria, reservation is a ++ tho

        1. head over to astoria-- there are more outdoor cafes and restaurants than anywhere else in the city-- wander up 30th ave from 31st street to Steinway-- tons of cafes and restaurants- Broadway is the same.

          1. Both Agnanti and Taverna Kyklades on Ditmars in Astoria have outdoor areas. Agnanti is in kind of a quiet area, right next to the park.

            1. Much thanks for all the suggestions--I am continuing to build my go-to list for this summer and will post additional ideas as I discover them!

There's Jade at Station Square in Forest Hills....the food is nothing special, and on the high end, not super expensive, but costlier than most Asian restaurants, but the drinks are good and the location is nice.

              2. Oasis on Northern Blvd near Francis Lewis Blvd. in Flushing. Greek pastries, lunch & dinner menu, cute, peaceful, high-walled backyard.

                1. Is there any outdoor dining in Jackson Heights?

Bayside has some nice outdoor dining. Maggie Mae's (if you can get pass the bar scene) has pretty good food for Bayside standard. I like to go to Press195 for soup and salad for lunch. Mickey serves seafood and they have a backyard as well.

                  2. It's that time of year again. I thought I'd revive this thread and expand it to include places to have a drink on a nice day.

cmoore618: Any other tips from last yer?
