am supposed to go to Dovetail on saturday...
for my mother's 65th birthday, but I havent read anything good other than bruni/nymag reviews and am worried.
Should we bail? And if so, where can I get a table for 4 that's good for the occasion?

I don't think you'd have a bad experience, although my guest & I (after only 1 visit) felt there were too many ingredients in the preperations & that many of the combinations didn't work well together. Tempatures were also off. We were not big fans of the ambience either, but don't let that discourage you.

I don't have much faith in Bruni, but my 3 dinners at Dovetail have been excellent. I have been a fan of John Fraser since he was cooking at Snack Taverna and Compass. He is doing an admirable job here. If you do a search on this board you will find many glowing reports, including my own.
