Cheap good food - Mitte, Holiday Inn Vicinity

Hi
Any tips on very inexpensive and good food. It can be any kind of food, local or international
I've read the posts about the 'Street Food' and will try it, and would rather not go to the mall around the corner. The Alex tower area is a bit too far. I've learnt from this site that most food places stay open til late too.
Thank you

I am guessing you're at the Holiday Inn on Prenzlauer Allee? Take Saarbrücker Str. to Schönhauser Allee, and on your left you will find I Due Forni -- excellent pizza. The service is too hip & young to be professional, but the food is worth checking out.

You should also check out Kollwitzplatz which is relatively near -- you can find anything there from Chinese fondue to German seafood to Indian & Italian restos, as well as a couple döner/shawarma places.

      Hochstrasse Holiday Inn, Mitte
Is that the same one you're referring to above?

Oh, no, I was thinking of a different one... not sure that there's much in walking distance, but if you hop on the subway (U8) and take it to Rosentaler Platz or Weinmeisterstr., there are a number of places all around. Hope this helps.

Indeed I am! Got in a week ago today, so the jet-lag is done with and I've already scooted to my fave sushi place. Life has gone from good to great again :-D

yea - the first week certainly left something to be desired for... but it seems like I caught the tail end of it -- whew. Berlin in the rain is no fun!

Just a bit closer, you can get off at Bernauerstrasse U-Bahn station and walk to Kastanienallee or Oderbergerstrasse. Lots of shopping and cafes there.

Omoni is a Japanese-Korean place near you, and on Falkplatz 5 there is The Bird for great burgers and beer.
