moderate priced/near harvard square
vanessa here, new to chowhound. a friend recommended you all as good sources for figuring out where to host a rather complicated graduation dinner this june. here are the complicated parts:
*can accommodate 10-15 people, ideally not in a private room
*within walking distance of harvard square (like near/in harvard, central, porter squares)
(*if possible, has at least one item (like a hamburger/steak) on the menu my very picky brother will eat)
*cuisine is virtually not important
I was at a 12ish-person dinner at Temple Bar about a year ago. The food there isn't grade-A, make-a-trip-from-across-town chow, but it's perfectly serviceable, and a vast improvement from where it was a few years ago. At the function, we had several orders of their fondue, which made a great appetizer for the crowd to share. Entree prices are right in your target range, you'd be seated in their main dining area, and although I'm not 100% positive it's wheelchair accessible, it's located on a single floor at street level.
A few doors down is Changsho, an upscale, Americanized Chinese place. Also not a going-away favorite on this board, but again a totally acceptable option. When I graduated from college a while back, we took a crowd to Changsho's sister restaurant in Sudbury, and it seemed to leave everybody happy. Also a single, streel-level floor.
