Dinner near Carnegie Hall???

campoli Apr 22, 2008 07:37 AM

Hello all,

I just bought my parents tickets to a concert on Thursday, May 8th. I'd like to make a reservation for them at a restaurant that is in close walking distance to the hall. I'm looking for Italian, American or French - not Thai or Greek. Any recommendations?

Thanks and all the best!

* not chowhound material but if anyone has any parking recommendations near restaurant/Carnegie Hall, that would be much appreciated as well!

My favorite place near Carnegie is Molyvos, but since you said no Greek, you might look at Abboccato (55th between 6th and 7th) or Osteria del Circo (55th btw 6th and 7th, closer to 6th) for high-end Italian. I had a very nice lunch at Abboccato around Christmas. I've never been to Osteria and it seems a little touristy to me, but other reports say the food is good. Red Eye Grill is right across the street from the hall and is supposed to have decent American food.

Since you didn't mention a price point, Petrossian has a prix fixe at about $42. They are at 58th & 7th, a block from CHall. And Trattoria del Arte is across 7th Ave from the Hall as well as Redeye Grill. Rue 57, bistro fare, is at 57th & 6th. Like biondanomima though, Molyvos is my favorite.

The new Alain Ducasse French bistro, Benoit, is close by, on 55th, b/t 5th & 6th. Reports from those on this board and on other food forums who have been are in the rave category.

If you go to that website, and enter the address of Carnegie Hall, and the times that you expect to have the car parked, you will get a list of every garage nearby, and what the cost will be. I have that site saved to my favorites, and use it often. It's great, and accurate.
